The best way to free up your garbage disposal is to use the end of your broom, mop or a paint roller extension
handle. With the disposal off rotate the handle around the inside of the disposal back and forth until it is
freed up. Some disposals have a key that came with them or you can use an Allan wrench, but it can be
jammed to the extent that an Allan wrench will not give you the leverage you need to free it up.
Then you can simply remove the article jamming the disposal with your hands or a vacuum with a tapered
attachment with the sweeper running and vacuum it out.
Avoid putting salt, popcorn shells or anything that shreds in your garbage disposal.
To clean your disposal put ice cubes in it when it is running with the water on to get rid of any smells from build up.
You may need to push the red re-set button at the bottom of the disposal under the sink if it was jammed up too
long while the disposal was running.
